Overview
Known as the City of Roses; throughout its history, it has provided the national art and culture with a long track record of works and leaders acclaimed for their competence and creativity, without capabilities generation after generation contributing to presenting poets, writers and stars of art and theatre, only to be destroyed by a devastating hurricane in the remains of its national theatre building, a scene that required Khalifa Holding Group to revive it from the rubble and destruction, a great monument that would complete the noble messages that Dernq provided to the country through the arts. With a sense of integration, expertise and harmony to make the project a success, Eabr Al-alam and NAS companies began work on the project, which includes the main theatre stage on the ground floor, which includes the heart of the theatre, its stage and a fully developed performance area, as well as an elegant rest and relaxation area, including a small café and dining area, public toilets, a box office and a storeroom with an optimised and organised storage space.
On the first floor, the group completed the administrative section, with a series of vital offices that include the offices of the theatre manager, administrative affairs and secretaries, putting its artistic touches in the montage section of the same floor, which includes the technical operations and recording center, an integrated montage studio room, equipped with the latest technology, and a control and sound recording room, with advanced sound technologies. Khalifa Holding added its own unique features and touches to the theatre, transforming the first floor by equipping a VIP room with a high-end reception area, as well as rehabilitating the actors' section on the same floor to include spaces dedicated to the artists' comfort and preparation for performances, including make-up and dressing rooms and private toilets for actors and actresses. With its attention to details, the Group, through its companies Eabr Al-alam and NAS, has worked to make the second floor a spacious space with all means of comfort and relaxation, in addition to meeting and rest areas for theatre guests, including a special café that provides a comfortable and sophisticated atmosphere. A great edifice that touches the Libyan artistic identity and represents a pillar and foundation for a national renaissance that complements the career of icons and names that have given the Libyan scene a lot; Khalifa Holding called for taking steps to develop and restore it, according to the highest international quality standards. Over the course of a year, the group carried out a comprehensive removal of all the worn-out elements such as: old curtains and furniture, damaged sound and lighting systems, dilapidated air conditioning units, and uncomfortable grandstand seating, as well as the careful dismantling of old floors, dilapidated toilet fronts and suspended ceilings, in addition to the removal of damaged exterior cladding, deteriorated insulation, and all layers of old interior paint. Khalifa also carried out foundation works that included exterior facade works, adding aesthetic touches to the front facade, installing air conditioning and electrical systems that meet standard specifications, as well as interior works that transformed the interior spaces into a modern and functional environment, so that the theatre is now back to the glory of the people of a city that was not broken by the hurricane.
