With a Noble Vision and Determination to Localize Healthcare in Libya: Khalifa Holding Group Lays the Foundation for Benghazi’s Medical City

Driven by humanitarian principles and unwavering determination to end the suffering endured by the Libyan people for decades—who have long searched across the globe for treatment and healing—Khalifa Holding Group has launched one of the country’s largest and most anticipated healthcare projects. At its core lies a noble mission: to localize medical care within Libya and bring advanced healthcare services closer to its citizens, particularly the people of Benghazi and Libya at large.

Owned by the National Development Agency and located in the strategic Sidi Faraj area of Benghazi, the project spans a built-up area of 55,000 square meters. Through its renowned subsidiary, Eber Alalam for General Contracting and Real Estate Investment, Khalifa Holding Group began laying the foundation for a comprehensive medical city designed to deliver advanced and integrated healthcare services. The project adheres to international standards and incorporates innovative medical solutions that aim to preserve lives and combat complex diseases and epidemics.

On July 1, 2023, Eber Alalam commenced construction by launching Benghazi International Hospital, the flagship of the medical city. The hospital’s front section will feature a four-story general hospital, while the rear section will house a two-story specialized oncology center. The facility will also include critical departments such as emergency and ambulance services, a large central pharmacy, medical supply warehouses, and modern mortuary units equipped with advanced refrigeration systems.

With 85% of the concrete work already completed, the project has been divided into 12 implementation zones. A team of over 312 professionals, including engineers, laborers, steel fixers, carpenters, truck drivers, and crane operators, is currently engaged in delivering the project. The hospital’s modern and functional design strategically organizes departments such as the emergency unit, outpatient clinics, and surgical theaters.

Thanks to tireless efforts and round-the-clock work, Khalifa Holding Group has brought the hospital’s vision to life in a remarkably short time. Final finishing works are ongoing, with meticulous attention to detail—including the hospital’s external infrastructure, such as parking facilities, security points, and auxiliary services, all planned to ensure seamless operation.
