Khalifa Holding Group is pleased to announce the launch of the Architectural Design Competition for the Main Gate of Benghazi Public Park, as part of its commitment to fostering architectural creativity and reinforcing the cultural and urban identity of the city of Benghazi.
This initiative aims to create a design that blends local architectural heritage with modernity, making the gate more than just an entrance — but a cultural landmark and a timeless symbol of the city’s identity.
Competition aims to create a contemporary design that reflects Benghazi’s cultural and urban identity , integrate authenticity with modernity in a distinctive architectural form, and to highlight the park as a comprehensive destination for leisure, culture, and the arts.
Each participant is required to submit:
• A complete architectural design for the gate (front elevation + site plan).
• 3D renderings or illustrative sketches.
• A clear conceptual statement (Concept).
• Material specifications and estimated budget.
• A proposed design for night-time lighting.
The awards will be as follows
• First Place: Implementation of the winning design + Certificate of Recognition + Monetary Prize.
• Best Concept: Certificate of Participation + Honorary Gift.
• Employment Opportunities: For distinguished participants.
The evaluation Criteria
• Aesthetics – 30%
• Innovation – 25%
• Functionality – 20%
• Cost-efficiency – 15%
• Environmental and cultural integration – 10%
The top ten designs will be shortlisted for a live pitch presentation before the judging panel, with the option to support their submission by a short (one-minute) video.
Intellectual Property
• All intellectual property and legal rights of the winning design will be transferred to the Benghazi Public Park Administration.
• The administration reserves the right to use, amend, or implement the winning design without further reference to the designer.
• All submitted entries may be archived or displayed for non-commercial purposes (exhibitions, publications).
